Seed Of Compassion Community Outreach CIC
Seed of Compassion Community Outreach (SoCCO) exists to relieve poverty, reduce family breakdown, and provide practical and emotional support to families, women, single parents, and children within the Black and Ethnic Minority (BAME) community. Our objectives are achieved through parenting seminars, confidential counselling, workshops, the provision of essential items and food, awareness sessions on mental health and safeguarding, and personal development programmes that empower families to thrive. In line with the commitments outlined at the close of 2023, SoCCO continued to deliver monthly seminars, confidential counselling, workshops, and courses for mothers, fathers, and families. Our theme for 2024 was Mindful Motherhood, and we designed our activities around creating safe spaces where parents felt supported, empowered, and equipped to raise thriving children. We launched the year with a free breakfast seminar titled: Beyond Survival (Parenting with Purpose). This event tackled practical parenting issues, encouraged mothers to remain hopeful in difficult circumstances, and created an interactive environment for sharing experiences. Mothers were linked with one another for peer support, and practical information was provided on how to access long-term help. Throughout the year, several families approached us for confidential intervention, which we provided through counselling, mentoring, and family mediation. We also ran safeguarding workshops, equipping families with knowledge and practical tools to protect children and young people. Another strand of our work focused on raising awareness of the impact of domestic abuse on children and on reducing conflict within the family home. To address this, we developed a monthly workshop series that was shared widely with local authorities, schools, children’s centres, faith groups, social media, and by word of mouth. This project continues into 2025. Monthly breakfast meetings empowered mothers and families with practical life lessons. Topics included: Building a Life that Blooms with Impact, Parenting in the Digital World, Stress Management, Managing and Coping with Mental Health Issues, Focusing on Identity Crisis, Dealing with Difficult Children, and many others. Each session was facilitated by professionals and supported with resources and follow-up opportunities for growth. Alongside seminars and workshops, SoCCO carried out direct outreach projects. We regularly visited Southall Street Homeless, providing donations, food, and compassion to those living on the margins of society. These visits created opportunities to show kindness, build trust, and extend our mission of hope and dignity to people experiencing homelessness. We also extended financial support to disadvantaged families where urgent needs were identified, demonstrating our wider commitment to compassion and outreach. People Reached Through our seminars, workshops, and counselling services, SoCCO reached: Mothers, fathers, and single parents within the BAME community Teenagers and young adults requiring mentoring and guidance Families experiencing conflict, poverty, or disruption Homeless individuals through direct street outreach in Southall Professionals and community members engaged through networking and support forums Our direct interventions, seminars, and workshops supported dozens of families locally, while our international financial aid extended help to disadvantaged families abroad. In 2025, SoCCO will continue its work with passion and commitment. Our theme for 2025 is Before She Blooms (Awakening, aligned for what comes next). We will expand monthly seminars and workshops to cover more empowering and practical topics, strengthen confidential counselling and family support services, continue our safeguarding and family wellbeing workshops, build networks with professionals to provide career and personal development opportunities, extend practical aid to families in need, both locally and internationally and increase our outreach to the homeless and vulnerable through regular donations and street support. Our vision is to empower parents to create nurturing environments where children feel safe, valued, and supported to reach their full potential. By strengthening families, we will build resilient communities and contribute positively to society as a whole.
