Trossachs Radio CIC
The company has significantly increased its activities during 2024. Trossachs Radio agreed to rent retail premises in Callander with effect from July 2024 (on a two-year lease). This provided the station with a public focal point in an important centre of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. The intention is to encourage local people to adopt Trossachs Radio as their local radio station and for us to be Scotland’s Trossachs Visitor Radio Station. Members of the public can access the station on Main Street in Callander. During 2024 the directors made significant personal investment to enable the conversion of a former hairdressing salon in Callander into a new broadcasting facility and retail premises. Two studios were designed and created by the board members and volunteers. Studio One has facilities to broadcast live programmes to Trossachs Radio listeners with sufficient room to interview two guests or for co-hosting programmes. Studio Two duals as a voiceover booth as well as a production facility. Both studios had to be built new, as the area they now occupy was previously a significant open space forming a large part of the former hairdressing salon. Trossachs Radio began broadcasting operations from Callander with a launch from September 14th. To coincide with radio station’s launch, Trossachs Radio began a retail operation at the front of the premises to promote the station and sell records. The shop sign is displayed as Trossachs Radio and “Scobbies Records,” a brand invented for the record sales. Here re-used vinyl records and accessories are available. Record turntables, internet radios, radio merchandise, and other related products help to contribute some funding to the costs of running the station.
