Directors’ Report The directors present their report for the financial year ending January 25, 2024. Objectives and Activities The Splash Glasgow is a Community Interest Company (CIC) dedicated to providing independent, local journalism that informs, engages, and empowers Glasgow residents. The company’s activities during the year focused on reporting on issues affecting the local community, including housing, traffic, safety, public services, and cultural events. The company has also prioritised becoming more inclusive by actively reaching out to marginalised communities to ensure their voices are represented. Community Benefit During the year, the company delivered approximately 230 original stories highlighting community concerns, celebrating local achievements, and holding decision-makers accountable. Key initiatives included coverage of homelessness and temporary accommodation, public safety issues such as traffic congestion and e-bike misuse, urban redevelopment projects, and campaigns to save community facilities such as Whitehill Pool. By engaging with marginalised groups and traditionally underrepresented communities, the company has broadened its impact and strengthened community cohesion. On average, the site achieved around 30,000 views per month with an engagement rate of 45–49 percent. The company also attended community council meetings and engaged directly with residents to ensure local voices were heard. Stakeholder Engagement The company’s stakeholders include Glasgow residents, community councils, local businesses, cultural organisations, and campaign groups. Stakeholder consultation occurred through attendance at community meetings, direct engagement with campaigners, and feedback from readers via email, comments, and social media. Feedback received has informed the company’s reporting priorities and led to increased visibility of community-led campaigns. Directors’ Remuneration No directors’ remuneration was paid during the year. Expenses incurred solely for company activities were reimbursed. Future Plans The company remains committed to providing independent, impactful journalism, further engaging with the community, supporting local initiatives that benefit Glasgow residents, and continuing to expand its reach to include marginalised and underrepresented communities.
