Swale Media Arts Centre CIC
COMPANY ACTIVITIES AND IMPACT Swale Media Arts Centre (SMAC) has now been trading for five years. In April 2025 because of difficulty in extending our Lease we ceased to operate at 34 High Street, Sittingbourne. Having considered closing the Company completely the Board of Management took the decision to move it’s wellbeing activities to The Heather House Community Hub situated in the Avenue of Remembrance in Sittingbourne. The Mindful Monday and ‘Crafternoon’ Groups have continued at no charge to users and attendance has grown during the year. We have a variety of users including those with varying disabilities, wellbeing issues and those who just want to get out of the home and spend time with others. Having now established ourselves at the new venue we hope to develop our community activities in the coming year. We continue to keep in touch with local artists and heritage groups and to look for grant funding to assisted our work in the coming year. The organisation continues to be run by volunteers and a Board of Management (also volunteers). A decision has been made to rename the Company, as we are no longer have premises to allow us to operate as a Centre, work will be undertaken to update our Companies House, bank and social media documentation and we will then operate as Swale Community Arts. Stakeholders this year have included the local community, funders, local organisations who refer clients to the Group along with their support workers, the members of our Board of Management and of course volunteers who do a great deal to support projects. We continue to work with the local Community Volunteer Service organisation to share best practice on a number of procedural and training matters.
