The company’s activities and impact How our activities benefited the community in the financial year Lakeside Darkroom and Studio has established itself as a creative hub in Thamesmead, supporting analogue photography and community engagement. Key impacts include: Internship Programme Hosted 4 groups of 4–6 interns across the year. Provided training in film processing, hand printing, studio lighting, and alternative processes (cyanotype, liquid emulsion, pinhole). Delivered professional development through mentoring and exhibitions (Musings, Open Studios, and December showcases). Workshops & Training Offered public workshops in B&W and colour processing, cyanotype, and experimental techniques (e.g., Plant-Based Developers). Attracted participants from local and London-wide communities, particularly emerging photographers and recent graduates. Photo Bites (Community Brunches) Monthly sessions for 6–10 participants to share work, receive feedback, and network. Established a safe, supportive, and collaborative environment for growth. Collaborations & Partnerships Worked with local artists and partners including The Photographers’ Gallery, Metro Imaging, LCC UAL, and Rosetta Arts. Expanded visibility and fostered experimental photography projects. Accessibility & Affordability Launched an affordable £50/month unlimited darkroom membership. Enabled access to facilities normally costing £50–100 per session. Overall impact: affordable access, 4 exhibitions, 12+ workshops, 30+ interns trained, and a growing, inclusive creative community.
