Leeds Love It Share It Community Interest Company
LLISI has continued to develop the five year £2.5 million Climate Action Leeds project with a range of partners. We secured new funding of £30,000 from the University of Leeds to help us re-open Imagine Leeds, and then signed a lease with them to use their building at 9 Blenheim Terrace. This has allowed us to re-gain the momentum of running this community venue, and gives us a better chance of continuing to operate Imagine Leeds into the future. The new space at 9 Blenheim Terrace has become well used by a variety of groups and organisations. We took part in a Community Research Network project, funded by UK Research and Innovation. This project helped cultivate a city-wide network through which local communities are empowered and institutions engaged to grow, harvest and apply the value of community-led knowledge. Unfortunately, the grant application to take this project forwards was unsuccessful. We collaborated with the University of Leeds on a ‘Climate hubs policy project’, looking at the impact of Imagine Leeds on the City Council’s sustainability agenda. We continued to support the use of Doughnut Economics as a framework, created training programmes, increased public communications, and hosted a number of internal and public events, including the International Doughnut Festival. We worked with Roundhay Environment Action Project to develop a doughnut economics framework for their neighbourhood. We continued to secure engagement from across the city, including from Leeds City Council and the University of Leeds, and this has helped us to make progress against our stated aims.
