Ickleford Community Larder CIC

Ickleford Community Larder CIC operates a food-rescue service, collecting surplus food from local supermarkets that is often past its sell-by date but still perfectly safe to eat. This rescued food is then made available to residents of Ickleford and the surrounding areas, helping to reduce food waste and divert it from landfill. In most cases, food is offered free of charge, although donations are welcomed. These donations are used to purchase essential items such as store-cupboard staples, toiletries, and cleaning products, which are distributed to individuals and families experiencing hardship due to the ongoing cost-of-living crisis. Between August 2024 and July 2025, the Larder supported 100 families (2024: 80), including 65 identified as struggling financially. Through this initiative, the CIC continues to promote sustainability, community support, and dignity in access to food and basic essentials.
