Hope On Prescription CIC
Hope On Prescription CIC exists to inspire hope, resilience, and connection through the healing power of poetry and the creative arts. During the year, we reached over 500 participants through our Writing for Wellbeing workshops delivered in schools, community spaces, and Darent Valley Hospital. These sessions created safe, inclusive environments where individuals could express themselves, build confidence, and connect with others. Feedback demonstrated significant impact, with 100% of participants reporting an increased sense of hope and community, and 80% gaining a deeper understanding of the value of creative self-expression. A major highlight of the year was the delivery of our first community arts festival, Where the Light Begins, attended by approximately 300 people. The festival brought together partners from health, education, local government, and the creative sector, alongside nationally and internationally recognised artists such as Lemn Sissay. It provided a powerful platform for diverse voices, encouraged community cohesion, and introduced many attendees to poetry and spoken word for the first time. Local young people in particular benefited, gaining confidence and discovering new ways to express themselves. We extended our reach through fortnightly radio broadcasts on Valley Park Radio, sharing stories, creative content, and local opportunities to support wellbeing. Our community poetry competition further embedded creativity into everyday spaces, with winning poems displayed in local shop windows, spreading messages of hope and positivity. In addition, our Director’s participation in the Baton of Hope event amplified our mission on a wider platform, using lived experience and creative expression to inspire others facing challenges. This year has demonstrated the growing demand for creative, community-based approaches to wellbeing. Hope On Prescription CIC remains committed to expanding its reach, deepening its impact, and continuing to create spaces where people feel seen, heard, and hopeful.
