During the financial year, Equalinks CIC delivered its largest National Citizen Service (NCS) programmes to date, significantly increasing reach, delivery scale, and operational complexity. These programmes supported young people to develop confidence, leadership skills, and a stronger sense of civic responsibility, contributing to improved outcomes for individuals and the wider community. A flagship area of work during the year was the development of the Muslim Youth Alliance (MYA), a national infrastructure-building initiative designed to strengthen the youth sector serving Muslim communities across the UK. Through MYA, Equalinks CIC focused on connecting grassroots organisations, improving access to opportunities, and building shared capacity across the sector. During the year, the MYA network expanded to over 70 youth and community organisations, enabling collaboration, peer support, and knowledge-sharing between groups operating in areas of high deprivation. This network approach reduced isolation among smaller organisations and improved the consistency and quality of provision available to young people. Through MYA-enabled partnerships and delivery, over 200 children and young people were supported to access fully funded residential and outdoor learning experiences, many for the first time. These experiences contributed to improved wellbeing, confidence, and social development, particularly for young people from low-income and underrepresented backgrounds. Equalinks CIC also shared funding with partner organisations through the MYA network, enabling grassroots groups to participate in delivery and ensuring that resources reached communities with the greatest need. This approach strengthened local capacity, supported volunteer development, and enabled smaller organisations to build experience of funded programme delivery. Alongside direct delivery, Equalinks CIC facilitated knowledge-sharing and peer learning across the MYA network, supporting organisations to strengthen safeguarding practice, programme design, and partnership working. This contributed to a more resilient youth ecosystem and improved outcomes beyond the organisation’s direct delivery. In parallel, Equalinks CIC developed new strategic partnerships with national and sector-leading organisations, including YHA and Field Studies, helping to create sustainable pathways for future collaboration, diversified funding, and increased access to high-quality provision for young people. The Directors consider that the development of the Muslim Youth Alliance, alongside direct programme delivery, delivered clear and demonstrable community benefit during the year. Despite financial disruption arising from the liquidation of a contracting organisation, Equalinks CIC continued to prioritise community impact, responsible financial management, and long-term sustainability. Equalinks CIC enters the next financial year focused on strengthening the Muslim Youth Alliance, deepening partnerships, and scaling access to funded opportunities, ensuring that children and young people from underserved communities continue to benefit from high-quality, inclusive provision.
