Originally set up in 1947, Cumberland Lodge has as its objects: To advance education of the public, in particular British, Commonwealth and overseas students in accordance with the principles of the Christian faith with particular reference to: the nature of human life in society; the relationship between Christian theology and philosophy and alternative religious and secular beliefs; the inter-relationship of various academic disciplines and their practical relevance.
