Our purpose is to catalyse collective citywide action towards a zero carbon, socially just and nature-rich Bristol. Between 1 June 2024 and 31 May 2025, 194 new member organisations joined the Partnership, we welcomed 1,512 attendees to our events and forums, we hosted 9 Green Mingle networking events and our website received over 21,500 visits. A just transition continued to be a central pillar of the Partnership’s work. We remain committed to championing climate and nature action that has equity and fairness at its core, and to highlighting the deep connection between the climate and nature crises and social justice. Community Climate and Nature Action Project: We successfully completed phase two of our Community Climate and Nature Action Project. We welcomed six new organisations to the learning and mentoring strand of the project, who co-created community climate and nature action plans with their communities. We developed an insights report to share learnings from the programme and support its replication by other organisations. The year also saw the co-production of the refreshed Disabled people’s community climate action plan, and the original cohort of community partners (recruited in 2020) continued to action their plans over 2024-25. Our creative commissions included a series of ‘Climate Superhero’ short films by Eastside Community Trust, as well as a forum- theatre-inspired short film as part of our Climate and Disability programme, shining a light on the challenges Disabled people can face when travelling by bus. We worked with project partners to develop the first Community Climate Action Prospectus, showcasing opportunities for financial investment into each community’s plan - accelerating the transition to net zero whilst increasing community resilience. Our Community Leadership Panel continued to bring diverse community insights and lived experiences to inform strategic city projects and our panel insights report shares learnings to enable more cities to implement this model of strategic community engagement Climate Action Programme: The Climate Action Programme continued to grow, offering free, practical support to help organisations reduce carbon emissions, protect and restore nature, and prepare for a changing climate. We hosted Climate Action Breakfasts, creating opportunities for Bristol’s organisations to learn from experts and peers. Through our Intention to Action Clinics, we provided more focused workshops to support organisations to become more sustainable. We explored topics such as carbon data reporting, communicating climate action, and employee and supplier engagement. Over 210 organisations attended our events and our Climate Action Programme resources were viewed over 1,000 times. Our programme also expanded to include bespoke and sector-specific support. For example, with the backing of the Bristol BIDs and in collaboration with Eunomia Research & Consulting, we created the Getting Started Programme to help organisations that are at the start of their climate journey. Our Climate Leaders Group continued to provide a supportive learning environment for organisations with ambitious emissions reduction targets, and a plan for reaching them. Sessions over 2024-25 focused on reducing impact on nature, managing Scope 3 data, and building climate resilience. Mission Net Zero project: The Mission Net Zero project launched in 2024 to address the non-technical barriers to achieving a just transition to net zero. The project focused on tackling financial and investment challenges faced by net zero initiatives, closing the skills gap through training and employment pathways, and building public trust in the technical solutions underpinning the transition. Through our involvement in the project, we aimed to strengthen the enabling environment for climate action byimproving knowledge, confidence, and skills; building organisations’ capacity through better access to funding; facilitating peer connections across the VCSE network; and strengthening relationships with local authority partners. Over 2024-25, we delivered three workshops for 12 community organisations and in November 2024, nearly 200 people joined our Mission Net Zero Gathering at We The Curious to reflect on the progress made since Bristol’s 2018 climate emergency declaration. Partnership Programme: In 2024-25 we continued to provide support to the One City Environment Board and the Bristol Advisory Committee on Climate Change (BACCC), whose collective actions, leadership, and technical expertise helped shape and accelerate action towards Bristol’s ambitious climate and ecological goals. We also supported the Sustainable Transport Network to meet regularly to improve sustainable transport across the West of England region, through networking, sharing information, and influencing. We hosted nine Green Mingles, with over 630 attendees, and countless connections made over local sustainability topics. We covered a broad range of themes - inclusive transport, renewable energy, green skills, and more. We also brought our members together at a large gathering to celebrate work achieved across Bristol’s communities and organisations. In November 2024, the Mission Net Zero project took centre stage, focusing on the topic of ‘Transforming Bristol Together: A work in progress’, where we reflected on the climate action achieved across the city so far and looked ahead to what is needed for a collective transition to net zero.
