Art And Energy CIC
Activities and Outcomes •Let’s Make Change A programme with Plymouth Culture designed for creative freelance practitioners to develop their practice as part of a journey towards a greener future. The programme developed confidence, community, and vision among local artists. It resulted in a legacy of freelancers communicating and supporting each other to develop projects that engage their audiences in positive and empowering environmental messages. •The Mossy Carpet A finished artwork reaching 80 metres in length and reflecting the creativity and positive actions of the 80,000 people who took part. Together we learnt more about mosses, made moss inspired pompoms and shared their small actions for a brighter, greener future. •How to Bury the Giant exhibition We showcased our exhibition ‘How to Bury the Giant – A retrospective of Art and Energy’s work, with The Mossy Carpet Grand Finale and a celebration of our peatland connections with Peat-Fest South-West' at Market Hall, Plymouth in November 2025. Bringing together all 80m of The Mossy Carpet, our interactive solar artworks, moss and peatlands inspired displays and In Moss and Moor 360°, film in the dome showing mossy habitats with voices recorded on our Tardigrade Telephone. •Peat-Fest South-West Art and Energy were lead partner on this project celebrating peatlands across the South-West and funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund. We worked alongside our project partner RE-PEAT, and other collaborating organisations in Somerset, Dorset, Dartmoor, Exmoor and Bodmin Moor. A region-wide celebration raising awareness of peatland heritage through youth-focused events, intergenerational skills exchange, creative activities, and digital storytelling. Together we reached nearly 17,000 people. •Bogcasts (online resource) A series of podcasts created as part of Peat-Fest South-West, sharing inspiring voices, stories and sounds linked to the peatlands of the South-West. Peatlands are rich constellations where we can discover ancient histories, cultural heritage and essential ecosystems. Their wisdom can help us to learn more about the world we live in and how to make it a better place together. •Sunlight Gathering This year we create ‘Sunlight Gathering’, an interactive solar artwork commissioned by Plymouth Energy Community and co-created with the local community. It invites people to sit, connect, and celebrate creativity and the magic of solar energy and spark conversations about the importance of solar power. •Glastonbury Festival (Green Futures Field) We were invited to return for our second year. We showcased The Mossy Carpet artwork, mosses, terrariums and shared our love of Peatlands as part of Peat-Fest South-West with the Be More Moss solar portal. Once again deepening climate conversations at one of the UK's biggest cultural platforms. •North Yard Community Trust funding Delivery of hands-on creative workshops focussing on moss and The Mossy Carpet for schools and community groups in Keyham, Weston Mill, Barne Barton, St Budeaux and Kings Tamerton - Plymouth. •We Are All Connected We displayed our interactive solar artwork at Dazzle Festival, Plymouth, reaching over 20,000 visitors over the 4 days, celebrating 200 years of Devonport’s maritime heritage. Feedback quotes: “Thank you for the opportunity to think about my actions in the world. I feel more connected to people and the peat of Dartmoor.” “The whole exhibition was a dream. It’s everything environmental art should be. Fun, interactive, empowering. LOVE!”
