The company works to promote a positive approach to Arab-British relations by providing an unrivalled forum for a diverse range of politicians, journalists, opinion formers and members of the public to co-operate on issues relating to the Arab world. Our key objectives are to: (a) Press for constructive British policies towards the Middle East and North Africa and ensure that important Arab concerns cannot be discounted or ignored; (b) Raise awareness, challenge inaccurate or biased coverage in the British media and work to ensure that prejudice against Arabs in the UK is regarded as unacceptable as prejudice against other race groups; (c) Encourage critical exploration and engagement with the Arab world, and have a long-term impact on the way the region and Arab-British communities are addressed in British schools. Primary responsibility for the delivery of our objectives rests with our Political, Media and Education programmes and we engage in a wide range of activities, including:- (1) Arranging parliamentary delegations to the Arab world; (2) Maintaining active links with Government ministers and their political advisers, lobbying them on key issues; (3) Providing MPs and Lords from all political parties with up-to-date information and specialist seminars and events; (4) Providing expert commentators to a variety of UK and Arab media outlets, giving interviews on major broadcasting networks and publishing letters in leading newspapers; (5) Keeping members and supporters informed via our daily broadsheet digest; (6) Delivering some talks and workshops in UK schools every year; (7) Providing original online teaching materials to help teachers tackle a range of issues in a well-informed and dynamic way; (8) Arranging a programme of events, ranging from seminars and round-table discussions for decision-makers and opinion-formers to large public lectures for members and supporters.
