SingApp:Parkinson’s 24/25 has seen the launch of SingApp Parkinson’s. It was officially launched in July 2024 on both IOS and Android. Throughout 24/25 has had 200 sign ups. It was developed with 75 PLEP and allied health specialists. The aim was to improve voice quality, articulation and breathing to combat vocal symptoms caused by Parkinson’s. It was funded by Arts Council England, Britten Pear Arts, Trinity Laban and Sing to Beat. We also offer a 24 hr helpline to assist people with technical difficulties. Online Singing Sessions 24/25 has seen a continuation of fortnightly provision of online singing session for people with Parkinson’s. 15 sessions were delivered with an average 9 participants. Session run for 45 mins online focusing on vocal exercises, breathing and singing to maintain vocal quality for those with people living with Parkinson’s. Hypertension 24/25 saw the pilot of a new singing for health programme Singing for Hypertension. It was funded by the Innovate Fund financed by Bromley Council and NHS SE London Integrated Care Board. The fund was to test projects that help people improve their health and wellbeing. We wanted to see if singing could reduce people’s blood pressure readings. Session ran online and in person in a central venue in Bromley. 15 people took part. Results have shown that for 89 percent of participants their blood pressure was lowerat the midpoint and end of course. Some feedback from our participants: I have been surprised at how much exercise this involved… I’ve used muscles in my stomach I didn’t know I had! Nicola is a very engaging teacher and very relaxed about our attempts at the exercises! I’m really grateful to have been included on the course as I happen to have been having an extreme stressful time over the last month with illness in the family. This has helped me a great deal. It's been great and I have seen some of the lowest BP readings for a long time..Nicola is so warm and welcoming and I always left the session feeling relaxed and calm. Throughout the year Medising worked with over 230 people to deliver creative health vocal interventions to help address the symptoms of long term conditions, this year both in person and online.
