Hong Kong Well UK CIC

Hong Kong Well UK CIC aims to provide mental health advices, support and services in Cantonese with a holistic approach to children and young people whose parents are new migrants from Hong Kong with Bristol National Overseas (BNO) status. Through prevention, intervention and empowerment, children and young people who suffer from emotional disturbance due to the displacement or adjustment issues in the UK, over 800 families have received appropriate resources to alleviate their acute distress. Webinars on mental health awareness were offered including the education system in the UK, Special Educational Need and Disabilities (SEND) and specific topics that are catered for the Hong Kong families living in the UK. This year, we had been awarded by the government’s Resettlement Grant Fund for children and young people. The grant helped immensely to meet the endless demand. We particularly focused on triage assessment and 1:1 acute counselling sessions in Cantonese. Speaking and sharing with and at different Welcome Hong Kong hubs and their affiliated organisations were delivered to spread the services within Hong Kong communities and local authorities/councils.
