Give...A Few Words CIC
During the year 2024 -2025, Give A Few Words delivered over 4,500 uplifting, personalised letters (arts and crafts too) for others. These were posted in Gifts of letter packs for over 750 individuals from care homes, charities, voluntary and community organisations. They reached people who may be experiencing loneliness, physical disabilities, mental health issues, veterans, poverty and homelessness, learning disabilities, cancer, domestic violence, dementia and caring responsibilities. The volunteer team (of which over 1,000 volunteers have contributed this year) derive from a wide variety of backgrounds and include individuals, families, charities, schools, and strategic support from volunteer directors. For many volunteers, they have commented on how writing positive letters has been beneficial to themselves too commenting I am retired so my time is pretty much my own and it brings me such immense pleasure to do this, and Writing letters for Give A Few Words has had such a positive impact on my life. The organisations and recipients who receive the letters describe how the letter packs help to stimulate conversations and how “the kindness and thoughtfulness of the letters, bring joy and warmth to residents’ days, making a meaningful difference to their lives. Give A Few Words has a diverse range of stakeholders; these include all who receive personalised letters, care homes, charities, volunteers and community organisations, educational establishments, health and social care organisations, charities, voluntary organisations and businesses of varying sizes (SMEs to global companies). As well as having regular direct regular contact with volunteers, care homes and other organisations, we also carry out regular surveys. This is undertaken both formally and informally using surveys, evaluation forms, creative opportunities and through conversations. Our work with businesses also supports employee wellbeing in the workplace and organisations individual Corporate Social Responsibility objectives. The Directors of Give A Few Words are grateful to all grant funders, businesses and individuals who have supported our aims and objectives during 2024/2025. We strive in 2025/2026 to build on the solid foundation of this year and continue to reach people who are socially isolated or wish to improve social connections.
