Crafthole Community Shop became a Community Interest Company in 2011, following its formation as a Com-munity Shop in 2009 after the closure of the Village Shop in 2008. We have five directors who administer the day to day running of the Shop, two of which receive a remuneration (Finance Director and Shop Manager) and a company secretary. During the financial year 2024-2025 we have benefited the community in the following ways: local residents (particularly those without access to transport and those with impaired mobility) have been able to continue to buy their groceries and everyday essentials and to experience a welcome contact, especially important for some of our older parishioners. the shop is staffed by volunteers for whom the two hour shifts provide a welcome routine, contributing to a feeling of continuity, mental well-being and community cohesion; we currently have 18 active volunteers through a grant we have acquired a new digital till which has greatly improved working conditions and efficiency we continue to source local products and offer Cornish produce and accept the small batches of locally produced foods not always accepted by larger retailers. we strive to maintain competitive prices for our customers, passing on special offers where possible. we continue to source ‘close to home’ with a continued reduced bus service the shop provides an essential service to its parishioners. we have a Food Bank within the shop which is disseminated by the Methodist Chapel. we support the village hall events by donating a voucher for the raffle to be spent in the shop and donate to charities we are in negotiation to relocate to the Village Hall which with parking facilities, improved space and accessibility will benefit all, becoming a comprehensive hub of the village.
