Ashfield Community Enterprise Nottinghamshire CIC

The principal activities of Ashfield Community Enterprise are to develop, promote, support, or further community and enterprise activity of any kind in the district of Ashfield. Through this activity, to enable the continued provision of a range of services to the people of Ashfield, linked to their social engagement, health and wellbeing, advancement of skills and the provision of volunteering opportunities. We participate in a range of partnership programmes to enhance the experience of our volunteers, mostly people who are furthest from the workplace, to gain new skills and potentially lead to employment opportunities. We would like to say a big thank you to all our volunteers who give their time to support the delivery of our projects and services. This year we focused on providing refreshments through the kiosk at the Health and Wellbeing Centre, and the crafting groups we run to produce handcrafted goods to sell through the kiosk. Our woodwork programme was diminished following the death of the project lead. We have struggled to find a competent person to take forward the group and make items from wood, that we could sell. We focused on the confidential waste collection and shredding programme that we have undertaken over many years. Whilst this initially paid the bills of the unit, increased costs and increased digitalisation, reducing the need for confidential waste shredding, made trading difficult. At the end of the year, we were considering our strategy for the future development of this part of the enterprise. A big decision regarding the future development of this aspect had to be made. New Trustees from AVA were brought in to consider our future strategy and consider new opportunities.
