A Touch Of Gentleness CIC

A Gentle Touch is a not for profit organisation whose mission is to bring the powerful transformative energy of ‘gentleness’, ‘connection’, ‘belonging’ and ‘touch’ back to the forefront of society. The Gentle Touch will create a community that seeks to restore gentleness through the power of a gentle hand massage and by truly listening and holding a space for another. As we emerge from the pandemic, we need to find a way to restore the power of touch to human society. The Gentle Touch offers a way of doing this that is safe and reminds us that to touch is to heal rather than to harm. To do this the organisation trains volunteers to become ambassadors of gentleness giving therapeutic hand massages that can be tailored and adapted to meet the needs of all sectors of society . Therapeutic hand massages are then offered by the volunteers in their own communities, in care homes, hospices, shelters for the homeless and at events. The training days and the massages are all imbued in the energy of gentleness so that when people receive the hand massage they are held, heard and experience that deep safe space of healing and connection that gentle touch with a listening ear can give. The volunteers that train in this will themselves get all the physical and emotional benefits that giving and receiving touch offers, so the healing begins from the inside out. The organisation ensures that all volunteers feel deeply valued and so provides people with the sense of both belonging and meaning and purpose. As The Gentle Touch family grows and touches more and more lives it will provide the healing medicine of connection and belonging into what for many people currently feels like a divisive, lonely world.
