Silkfutures CIC

Silkfutures CIC is a Cardiff-based Community Interest Company founded in 2020. We support young people aged 11–25, particularly those from low socio-economic and racially marginalised backgrounds, to access creative education, music production and physical wellbeing activities. Our work removes financial and social barriers that prevent young people from engaging with the creative sectors. During the financial year ending February 2026, the community benefitted in the following ways: • 133 young people were directly supported through free access to professional recording studio time, specialised music mentoring and guidance, and one-to-one and group creative sessions • 250+ young people were reached indirectly through workshops, community events and open-access sessions • 474 structured sessions were delivered across multiple community venues in Cardiff including Grangetown, St Mellons and Cardiff West • Young people were supported into next steps including further education, employment and creative careers • The Set Pace programme delivered weekly physical and wellbeing activities — including boxing, hiking and team challenges — improving resilience, confidence and emotional regulation • A reduction in violence and criminal activity was noted among young people supported, as reported by referral partners and youth workers • Young people reported improved mental health, increased confidence and stronger peer relationships as a result of participating in our programmes Over 70% of young people supported came from Black or racially minoritised communities. All sessions were provided free of charge, ensuring equal access regardless of financial circumstance.
