Women Empowerment And Wellness Network CIC
The Directors of Women Empowerment and Wellness Network CIC present this report to summarise the organisation’s activities, development and community impact during the reporting period. The organisation has continued to operate in accordance with its community interest purpose, using its resources, partnerships and programmes to support women, families and underserved communities across the North East of England. During the period, WEWN delivered inclusive and culturally responsive activities with a particular focus on Black and Minority Ethnic women, migrant and refugee women, young women, older women, families experiencing exclusion and emerging grassroots community leaders. Approximately 300 BME women were supported through outreach, peer support, wellbeing activities, confidence-building sessions, leadership development and community engagement. The Directors recognise that WEWN’s activities have provided clear community benefit by reducing isolation, increasing confidence, improving access to support and creating safe spaces for women and families to participate in community life. The organisation has also strengthened referral pathways, peer networks and partnership working, helping to ensure that support remains community-led and responsive to lived experience. The Directors note the contribution of key funding and development achievements during the reporting period. Support from The National Lottery Community Fund – Awards for All enabled the delivery of Engage and Excel activities, while funding from Screwfix helped improve community activity hubs. The Reach Fund supported strategic development and investment readiness, and LNER funding enabled the Safe Steps project, strengthening women’s confidence, wellbeing and safer travel awareness. The Directors confirm that WEWN has continued to consult with beneficiaries, stakeholders, community partners and members of its wider network to inform programme development and organisational planning. Approximately four consultation meetings were held during the reporting period, helping the organisation to review community needs, gather feedback and shape services in line with community priorities. Looking ahead, the Directors remain committed to strengthening WEWN’s governance, sustainability, monitoring and evaluation, partnership development and regional reach. The organisation will continue to reinvest its assets, funding and programme income into activities that advance community benefit, promote empowerment and wellbeing, and support long-term social change for underserved communities.
