Bird Box Gallery CIC
In the space provided below, please insert a general account of the company’s activities in the financial year to which the report relates, including a description of how they have benefited the community. The Bird Box Gallery provides a creative opportunity to display ‘artwork’. The project is open to everyone, with no barriers or judgements. We welcome all ages. The gallery is located in a front hedge, in the community. It is open and accessible 24hrs a day and we change the work all year round. All information about the artwork and exhibiting artist is continually updated on the Birdbox Gallery website and Instagram account. The Birdbox Gallery also organises a biennial summer walking art trail in the local community including up to 30 birdboxes displaying 30 Artists, hosted by 30 residents in the neighbourhood represented by the Birdwood Area Residents Association (BARA). The art trails have a map and are viewed from the pavement by passer-bys, schoolchildren and committed art trail participants. The Birdbox Gallery welcomes collaborations and this year had the opportunity to work with Rowan Humberstone Ltd. a local Cambridge charity which provides an art centre and Forest School to support Adults with learning difficulties to create artwork. Students from Rowan participated in the making, curating and the display of their artwork in birdboxes for their open Studios in the summer 2024. Ten Rowan Students exhibited their artwork in the Birdbox Gallery biennale art trail 2024 and several of the Students participated in the making and installation of the boxes for the art trail and subsequently lead groups of Students on the art trail. In October 2024 the Birdbox gallery supported the design and organisation of a halloween trail that developed ongoing resources that will support this initiative in future years
